Afterwards

You will be asked to rest at the centre for a short while so we can check you are comfortable before you leave. The fluid we draw is handled by us and sent for whatever testing your doctor has asked for — cell count, biochemistry, culture or cytology — and the report comes back to you here. You do not have to run to a second laboratory or follow anything up yourself.

Before you come

• Wash your hair the night before or that morning. Do not apply oil, gel or serum — the electrodes will not stick.
• Eat normally before you come. Coming hungry can change the recording.
